In some cases, like emergency cases of injury or mothers who are in labor, admission is done first then admission is done later.<br>\n<b>Discharge Process<\/b>\nThe discharge process starts immediately the doctor completes the case summary of the patient. However, emergency cases are attended to at the Accident and Emergency Unit\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">12.Where can I go to find\/take lost and found items at KNH?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\">\n\nLost and found items are taken to KNH security office for identification.\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">13.What is the process of acquiring a wheelchair at KNH accident and emergency?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\"<p align=\"justify\">\n\nTo be issued a wheelchair, the patient\u2019s caregiver is required to leave their identification document such as National ID or Passport which will be issued back after the patient has returned the wheelchair.\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">14.How can I book an ICU bed?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\"<p align=\"justify\">\n\nYou will be required to call KNH referral office to confirm availability. A referral letter is also required from the facility where the patient is currently receiving care.\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">15.What is the process of identifying an unknown person at KNH?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\"<p align=\"justify\">\n\n<b>Casualty Cases<\/b><br>\nA portrait photograph of the patient is taken and stored in a folder for relatives to identify.<br>\n<b>For Patients recovering at the ward<\/b><br>\nBiometric fingerprints are taken for identification at the Kenya National Identification Bureau (KNIB). If still not found, a portrait photograph is taken and put up on social media for their next of kin to identify.\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">16.Can I be treated without NHIF?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\">\n\nYes, you can pay through cash or M-Pesa.\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">17.How much is it to see a consultant doctor?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\">\n\nThe fee depends on the clinic the patient has been advised to attend which can be advised upon visiting the clinic.\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">18.What are the clinics operating hours, and do I need to book beforehand?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\"<p align=\"justify\">\n\nClinic operating hours run from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. A patient should book a clinic beforehand with a referral from the ward, casualty, staff clinic or from another hospital.\nThe clinic schedule can be found here:\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">19.Can I get speech therapy at KNH and at what cost?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\">\n\nSpeech therapy is offered at KNH after referral from the doctor at a fee of Kshs. 1000 per session.\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">20.Does the disability card work at KNH?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\">\n\nYes, after approval by the Kenya National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">21.Are wheelchairs provided at KNH for free?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\"<p align=\"justify\">\n\nKNH does not provide wheelchairs for patients. In case of a need, patients are advised to contact the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCWPD).\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">22.How does a patient schedule surgery at KNH?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\">\n\nKNH being a referral only hospital, surgery is scheduled by the doctor attending to the patient unless otherwise advised.\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">23.How much do maternity services cost?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\"<p align=\"justify\">\nWe encourage all mothers to register for NHIF and LINDA MAMA. These insurance funds are provided by the government to cater for delivery and post-delivery cost for the mother making healthcare readily available and reduce mortality rates attributed to childbirth.<br><br>\nThe labor ward receives patients referred from other facilities and emergency cases that come in as walk-ins. For one to be admitted in the Labor ward, they will need to come with:<br>\n<ul>\n \t<li>Ante-natal booklet that contains detailed information of their health and child\u2019s health from the clinic visits attended during the pregnancy<\/li>\n \t<li>A delivery bag containing a few essentials that they may need post-delivery for the mother and child<\/li>\n \t<li>Kshs. 1,200 for registration before they are admitted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<b>Under the private wing of the hospital, the maternity package is as below:<\/b><br>\n<b>NORMAL DELIVERY<\/b>&#8211; From Kshs. 55,000 which includes:\n<ul>\n \t<li>3 days general bed ward service inclusive of specialist\u2019s charges.<\/li>\n \t<li>Normal ward procedures and consumables to include sanitary pads, basin, towel.<\/li>\n \t<li>Labor ward charges.<\/li>\n \t<li>One pediatrician visit.<\/li>\n \t<li>Initial child immunization as per KEPI schedule (BCG &amp; Polio)<\/li>\n \t<li>Pain medication in the ward and at discharge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<b>CAESERIAN SECTION<\/b>-From Kshs. 160,000 which includes:\n<ul>\n \t<li>Laboratory tests i.e., grouping, and cross match hemogram urea, electrolytes and creatinine.<\/li>\n \t<li>4 days general ward service inclusive of obstetrician charges.<\/li>\n \t<li>Normal ward procedures and consumables to include sanitary pads, basin, towel.<\/li>\n \t<li>Operating theater service, medication, and anesthetic services.<\/li>\n \t<li>One ward visit by a pediatrician including receiving of the baby in the operating theatre.<\/li>\n \t<li>Initial child immunization as per KEPI schedule (BCG &amp; Polio)<\/li>\n \t<li>Pain medication in the ward<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">24.Are patients bills paid for by the hospital if they cannot afford?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\"<p align=\"justify\">\nPatients are expected to pay for their health care costs through user fees. KNH as a parastatal and semi-autonomous government institution requires money to run its activities and that\u2019s why user fees is charged.<br><br>\nFor both in-patient and out-patient services KNH has a credit system where clients who are unable to pay their hospital bills are assisted. They receive health care services with a promise of paying the hospital back when they are stable.<br><br>\nEmergency services are also processed through the credit system.\nKNH advocates for citizens of Kenya to register and pay for NHIF because the fund helps to patient\u2019s manage hospital expenses in the event medical needs arise.\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">25.How does one apply for employment at KNH?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\"<p align=\"justify\">\n\nProcess of applying for employment in KNH:\n<ol>\n \t<li>A job advert with the vacancy is put up on local newspapers and the hospital\u2019s website<\/li>\n \t<li>Download and fill the application form available at KNH website<\/li>\n \t<li>The application form together with a detailed CV indicating qualifications, experience, current responsibilities, copies of testimonials and certificates must be submitted to:<br>\n<b>The Chief Executive Officer<br>\nKenyatta National Hospital<br>\nP.O. You can only donate out of free will.\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">32.How do I book for a clinic?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\"<p align=\"justify\">\n\nWith a referral letter, visit our Casualty; Accident and Emergency Unit where you will get consultation stating which clinic to go to. You will then be advised to open a file and then book an appointment.\n\nIn case of an emergency, one doesn\u2019t need a referral letter to access treatment services.\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">33.Does KNH charge for parking and at what rate?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\"<p align=\"justify\">\n\nKNH parking rates depends on the amount of time one spends within the hospital. The first one hour is usually free but any additional time spent is charged. We have a parking service provider that uses an automated system that ensures convenience for all our clients\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">34.Can I access my medical records?<\/button>\n<div class=\"panel\">\n\nVisit health information Centre (No.19) with the following requirements.\n<ul>\n \t<li>An official letter addressed to the Chief Executive Officer stating the purpose of the report.<\/li>\n \t<li>The patient\u2019s hospital card.<\/li>\n \t<li>Payment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nThe office operates on Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm.\n\n<\/div>\n<button class=\"accordion\">35.I have a prescription\/laboratory request from my doctor.
