Mr. Mark Gakuru, HSC is the Alternate Director to Hon. Attorney General since August 2023. He currently holds the Insolvency Division of Government and is charged with giving advice to Government Ministries, Departments and State Corporations on matters relating to administrations, restructuring, liquidations and/or bankruptcies, and licensing all insolvency practitioners in Kenya.

Mr. Gakuru has over 19 years of rigorous professional, legal and administrative experience which spans over both Private and Public Sectors, with majority of this experience being at the engaging State Law Office.

He has served as a Deputy Chief State Counsel in the Office of the Attorney General, Refugee-Consultant at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and practiced both as entry-level Legal Assistant and practicing Advocate of the High Court at Gichachi & Co. Advocates and R. K.  Muthiga Advocates.

Mr. Gakuru holds a Masters of Law and Bachelors of Law degrees from the University of Nairobi.
