Service delivery partnerships
The Kenyatta National Hospital’s Ward Adoption Programme is a distinctive project that gives an opportunity to individuals and corporate companies to sponsor a ward at the country’s largest referral hospital whose objective is to provide specialized health care. These partnerships contribute directly to the improvement of the existing infrastructure which ensures that patients receive treatment in a good, clean environment that is therapeutic. The programme has had several successful Adoptions and recognizes the each partner as important in the development of the Hospital and mutual partnerships. Ward Adoption offers an opportunity for Branding and Marketing of companies/Individuals using the KNH platform.
The Hospital partnered with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to construct a playground for paediatric in-patients at a cost of Kshs.1.8million. The facility is meant to promote healing, learning, children growth, social interaction and give the children an opportunity to develop their talents while still in the hospital.
The Israeli Embassy renovated the Paediatric Oncology Ward (1E) & 3D. They donated 24 hospital beds, mattresses and linen to ward 1E.
The National Bank of Kenya (NBK) renovated the KNH Main Kitchen at a cost of Kshs.25million. The scope of work entailed: laying of a new terrazzo floor, steam piping, mechanical vents, plumbing and drainage works, electrical works and general ambiance uplift. The renovation is expected to improve safety within the Hospital and adhere to HACCAP certification. The Project was completed and handed over in August 2019.
The Hospital received from the Ministry of Health fifteen chemotherapy chairs, one chemo chamber in December 2018 and one C-Arm through the MES project in June 2019. This aims to support the hospital’s cancer treatment operations and reduce chemotherapy cancer patient waiting time.
The West African Women Trust Fund renovated the pediatric emergency unit at a cost of Kshs.1.8 million. The renovation was meant to modernize the -infrastructure by renovating the floors, general uplift of the environment, replacing the ceiling, lighting and windows. The project was commissioned by the High commissioner of Nigeria on 14th December 2018.
