THE LONG WAIT IS FINALLY OVER

The long wait is finally over. The Mwai Kibaki hospital was launched last Saturday by President  Kenyatta. This is indeed an important milestone not just for Kenyatta National Hospital but also for the millions of Kenyans, who will benefit directly from the facility.

The hospital’s main mandate is to focus on managing non-communicable diseases which pose the greatest health burden in this county and the region. The facility is already playing a crucial role in promoting access to specialized medical services in the region and will also facilitate the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) as envisioned in the Big Four Agenda.

Kudos to all that have made all this work. From the Board of Management led by Chairman George Ooko, to Chief Executive Dr. Evanson Kamuri, EBS and the entire KNH and Mwai Kibaki staff for the relentless work put in place to make this a reality. We believe that healthcare services in this region will greatly improve as referrals will be channeled to this facility thereby decongesting Kenyatta National Hospital and other referral hospitals in the country.
