Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, ascended to the throne and became Queen in 1952, at
the age of 25, while on a safari in Kenya, following the death of her father King George VI.
Colleagues, the Kenyatta National Hospital that we know today, started out as King
George VI Hospital, and within Administration Block lies a plaque that was unveiled by
H.M Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother 17th February, 1959 to commemorate her visit to
the Hospital.
