Corporate Services Directorate

Corporate Services at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) forms the administrative and operational backbone of the institution, providing the critical support systems that enable seamless delivery of healthcare services. The Directorate plays a central role in ensuring efficiency, accountability, and sustainability in all non-clinical functions, thereby allowing clinical teams to focus fully on patient care and outcomes.

The Directorate is structured into three core Divisions—Finance, Human Resource Management, and Facilities and Services—supported by two key Departments, namely Marketing and Communication, and Administration, as well as the Safety and Security Unit. Together, these functions drive the hospital’s operational excellence, institutional reputation, and service delivery environment.
The roles of the respective Divisions and Departments are as follows:
Finance Division
Responsible for the prudent management of the Hospital’s financial resources, the Finance Division oversees budgeting, financial planning, accounting, revenue generation, billing, and financial reporting. It ensures compliance with public finance regulations, promotes financial sustainability, and supports strategic decision-making through timely and accurate financial insights.
Human Resource Management Division
This Division is charged with the recruitment, deployment, and retention of a skilled and motivated workforce. It oversees staff welfare, performance management, training and development, industrial relations, and compliance with labour laws and policies. The Division plays a key role in fostering a productive work environment and sustaining a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Facilities and Services Division
Entrusted with the management and maintenance of the Hospital’s physical infrastructure, this Division ensures that buildings, medical and non-medical equipment, utilities, grounds, and environmental services are well maintained and operational. It supports infection prevention and control measures, waste management, and overall environmental safety to guarantee a conducive healthcare setting.
Marketing and Communication Department
The Department is responsible for shaping and safeguarding the Hospital’s corporate image and reputation. It manages internal and external communications, media relations, branding, digital platforms, patient engagement, and public awareness initiatives. It also plays a strategic role in stakeholder engagement and in promoting the Hospital’s services, achievements, and impact.
Administrative Services Department
This Department coordinates day-to-day administrative operations across the Hospital. It ensures effective policy implementation, supports governance structures, manages documentation and records, and facilitates workflow coordination to enhance organizational efficiency and service delivery.
Safety and Security Unit
The Unit is mandated to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. It oversees access control, surveillance, emergency response, and enforcement of safety protocols. The Unit works closely with relevant authorities to mitigate risks, safeguard hospital assets, and ensure preparedness for emergencies and disasters.
